Travelling to Odisha. 27/10/2022

We have flown across to the East on India , taking a two hour flight from Mumbai. I would have loved to take the train but this trip isn't really long enough to allow 40 hours on a train!!

We are here to hopefully meet the Dokra tribe who work with casting metal using the lost wax technique. We are staying in an incredible place.. the palace of Dhenkenal. The (once) royal family here are really involved in the local community , especially after covid where they helped lots of the families with food.

In the palace I came across this wonderful painting by local women. They use flour and water as the paint and their three fingers to make the marks. The flicks at the bottom are to represent the corn and the whole painting is a call for prosperity and good fortune for the year.

I really love the patterns and the marks .Not really e waste related but still inspirational!
